San Diego Opera Public Health Update
In response to the new recommendations from Governor Gavin Newsom to stay at home and limit travel to essential business, it is with a heavy heart that San Diego Opera informs you that we have postponed the remainder of our 2019/2020 season that was to continue with The Barber of Seville in April and The Falling and the Rising in May. This difficult decision was made with your health, safety, and well-being in mind and included input from the artists, board of directors and staff of San Diego Opera in response to the global coronavirus pandemic. It is all of our responsibility to flatten the curve.
In times of great uncertainty it is important to have something to look forward to. With this in mind, the three operas affected by the coronavirus outbreak - Aging Magician, The Barber of Seville, and The Falling and the Rising - are being scheduled for future seasons. The Company will announce its full season next month.
Thank you for understanding that cancellations of performances have tremendous financial impact on artists and presenters around the world. As a ticket holder for any of the canceled performances you have a few options:
- Donate the value of your ticket(s) as a tax-deductible gift. When communities experience deep crisis we need the arts more than ever. We know much is being asked of you today and that many organizations are seeking your support. By generously donating the value of your ticket you will help the company through this financially perilous time. We would be tremendously grateful for your gift.
- Apply the value of your ticket(s) to the upcoming 2020/2021 season. San Diego Opera is busy preparing for the next season and will be announcing it next month.
