Opera on Track
Thank you for making Opera On Track a great success! SDO's young artists performed a 30-minute version of Rossini’s Cinderella at trolley stops and venues within close walking distance of the trolleys. These delightful short events shared beautiful music, promoted the use of public transportation to come to the Civic Theatre downtown during opera season, and previewed San Diego Opera’s production of Cinderella that appeared on the main stage in October 2016.
All Opera on Track performances were free and open to the public. Families with children were especially invited to attend as Rossini’s music is tuneful, upbeat, charming, and funny as the traditional tale of Cinderella unfolds through the kind of storytelling that only opera can provide. And although the score is in Italian, these Opera on Track performances were be sung in English.
MTS was the 2016-17 season Preferred Mode of Transportation.
Opera on Track was funded by OPERA America’s Building Opera Audiences grant program, supported by the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation.
