San Diego Opera
Purchase with Confidence Program
One of the most important ways we can serve our community is to sometimes just be there. It may seem simple, but it is important to have familiar things you can count on, especially in times of great uncertainty. We’ve been in this community for over 55 years, and we have no plans to go anywhere. If you purchase tickets to a San Diego Opera performance and are unable to attend because you are not feeling well or do not feel safe, we will work with you to discuss options such as exchanging your ticket for a different performance or holding the value of your purchase to use for a future event. In these unprecedented times your support will enable us to continue to present opera to our city. We hope to see you soon.
One Amazing Night 2020Ailyn Pérez and Joshua Guerrero - In Recital
At the Balboa TheatreAn audience favorite each year, this season’s One Amazing Night brings us two dazzling artists at the peak of their careers, soprano Ailyn Pérez and tenor Joshua Guerrero in a recital with a Spanish theme. You won’t want to miss this remarkable evening. As Opera News observes, “The phrase ‘an embarrassment of riches’ might have been invented to describe the combination of talents that belong to Ailyn Pérez, … who truly seems to have it all.” In demand at the world’s leading opera houses and cultural capitals, she has performed at La Scala, Royal Opera Covent Garden, the Met, and many more. Proclaimed a “gifted young tenor” by The New York Times and an “up-and-coming matinee idol“ by Opera Today, Grammy award winner Joshua Guerrero is a member of the Bel Canto Trio and has appeared at Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and Canadian Opera Company, among others. Held in the intimate and historic Balboa Theatre, recently named one of the “World’s Most Spectacular Theatres” by CNN Travel.
