Arrive Early
Performances will start promptly at the time printed on your ticket. Please allow enough time for traffic, parking, and security checks.
Picking Up Tickets
At San Diego Civic Theatre, Will Call is located at the box office at Golden Hall, across the plaza from the theatre entrance.
At the Balboa Theatre, Will Call is located at the box office on Fourth Avenue in front of the theatre.
At both venues, Patron Services staff will be available at an outside tent — for ticket reprints, upgrades, and to answer questions — beginning at 5:30 pm for evening performances and 12:30 pm for matinee performances.
Pre-Performance Talks
Beat the traffic and get the most out of each performance at a free 25-minute talk in the auditorium 50 minutes prior to each opera performance. It’s a great way to learn about the opera and note what to listen for!
Opening Times
The lobby opens at 6:30 pm for evening performances and 1:00 pm for matinee performances. Food, concessions, tables, and chairs will be available, and restrooms will be open. Doors to the theatre open for the pre-opera talk at 6:40 pm for evening performances and at 1:10 pm for matinees.
Late Seating
As a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, latecomers will be asked to wait in the lobby until an appropriate break in the performance or the first intermission, and may be given alternative seating. All late seating is at the discretion of House Management staff.
Security Screening
Both San Diego Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre require that all guests pass through a security screening performed by trained security personnel. This will include:
- Walk-through or wand metal detection inspection
- Bag checks
- Visual inspection
- Other screening deemed necessary by security staff
Food and Beverage
Concessions at the Civic Theatre and the Balboa Theatre are provided by Sodexo Live!, the leading hospitality partner to North America’s live entertainment venues. To promote wellness and enhance speed of service, all bars and concession stands accept debit and credit cards, including major contactless and mobile payment methods. Cash is not accepted.
